On Friday, December 9th at 8:15 in Ford Hall, the Ithaca College Jazz Ensemble will perform an exciting program of large jazz ensemble compositions written exclusively by living jazz writers. 

 This concert will feature:

  • The winning piece from the 2011 Ithaca College Jazz Composition Contest, "Loot" composed by Adam Bartczak of the University of Northern Colorado.
  • The world premiere of "Promethium" composed by Roberts Wesleyan College jazz ensemble director Russell Scarbrough, commissioned by the Ithaca College Jazz Ensemble.
  • "With Trees" composed by Grammy-nominated composer/drummer/bandleader John Hollenbeck, based on the paintings of Piet Mondrian
  • "Pulse" composed by University of Texas at Arlington associate jazz director Dan Cavanagh
  • "Four by Four" composed by University of Minnesota jazz director Dean Sorenson
  • "Fortnight with Ferguson" composed by University of Utah jazz director Russell Schmidt

Featured soloists for the concert will include composer Adam Bartczak and Ithaca trumpet professor Frank Campos.
