Now is the time for giving to those who are less fortunate in your community. As part of Sodexo’s STOP Hunger Campaign, Ithaca Dining Services is presenting the perfect opportunity this holiday season. From now until Winter break begins on December 23, Ithaca Dining Services is challenging the campus community to help raise $4,000 for the Food Bank of the Southern Tier. Students, faculty, staff and visitors can visit any retail location on campus and add a donation on to their regular purchase. Every donation will be matched by Ithaca Dining Services and all proceeds will go towards the Food Bank of the Southern Tier in Elmira New York. Suggested donation increments are $1.00, $5.00 and $10.00, and contributions will be recognized with a Helping Hand posted in IC Square. The Food Bank services the central New York area which includes Broome, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga and Tompkins counties. The Food Bank’s network of over 185 hunger-relief agencies includes food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, residential programs, day care programs, senior feeding programs and other not-for-profit organizations. There programs positively impact people in our own Ithaca community; for every dollar spent, over 91% goes directly towards hunger-relief programs and initiatives and 100% of it stays in the Southern Tier. |
