When's the last time you wrote a letter to someone? #icMLKContributed by Jen Walsh on 01/15/12 At the Type or Tweet on Saturday, January 28, students, staff, faculty, and community members are invited to express themselves using words, much like MLK, Jr. did in his letter from Birmingham Jail. The event will span generations, from typewriters to twitter accounts. Music and food will add to the lively atmosphere of this event! In addition, this event will provide an opportunity to participate in a 'Purposeful Sharing' activity in which students can choose to share their thoughts on the Type or Tweet stage. Interested students can enter a submission here for consideration. The MLK Week planning committee has put together a week of great events surrounding the 2012 MLK Week theme: A New Definition of Greatness. “If you want to be great – wonderful. But recognize that he who is greatest among you shall be your servant. That’s a new definition of greatness…it means that everybody can be great, because everybody can serve.” - Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., from the “Drum Major Instinct" sermon, given on February 4, 1968 Below you will find the MLK Week 2012 schedule: Monday, January 23 Saturday, January 28 Use the #ICmlk hashtag to tweet about upcoming MLK Week 2012 events!
