Schubert’s and Müller’s Die Winterreise, is a journey of self-understanding in
which a man, unknown and unnamed, rejected by love, retreats into self-
imposed exile.  During the course of his bleak inner pursuit through memory,
illusion and reality, the wanderer finds only further rejection, an ever-deepening
solitude and hopelessness, and he grapples with his obsession over isolation
from the world and from himself. Three Ithaca College faculty members
collaborate to deliver this human message.
