Learn how to help prepare IC grads for"green" jobs on February 16thContributed by Marian Brown on 02/02/12
During this 90-minute webinar, we will join national industry and college experts as they describe curricular and campus resources available to you to successfully engage our students in regional energy and sustainability policy efforts. Webinar speakers will include: • Debra Rowe will describe specific options and resources for colleges about how to effectively utilize civic engagement in the classroom and in the community to build a more sustainable economy and create more successes for our students. Dr. Debra Rowe has been a pioneering voice and leading advocate in sustainability education and initiatives for over 30 years. She is President of the U.S. Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development, which convenes members of the business, education, communities, government, and faith sectors of the U.S. and catalyzes sustainability initiatives. At Oakland Community College, Dr. Rowe is a professor of energy management, renewable energy technology and psychology, focusing on harnessing energy from renewable sources in order to have a sustainable environment that will meet our present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs. • Todd Cohen, with the American Association of Community College’s Sustainability and Education and Economic Development (SEED) program, will discuss SEED’s green policy action community and ways to get involved. This webinar is being jointly hosted on campus by the Office of Career Services and the Sustainability Initiative at Ithaca College.
