Spend three weeks this summer in Siena, a beautiful medieval hill town in the heart of Tuscany. Italy: Language & Culture is a three-week, three-credit course which combines conversational Italian practice with a cultural tour of Siena and other historically important Italian cities. The program runs from May 22-June 13, 2012. Imagine starting your summer like this: leave from JFK airport in New York City and fly directly into Rome, followed by a scenic bus ride to the medieval hill town of Siena, right in the heart of Tuscany. With Siena as your home base in Italy, time will be divided between conversational Italian class, city walks, and field trips to places of historical and cultural importance. Day trips to Florence, San Gimignano and Arezzo will introduce you to several other important Tuscan cities. Three nights will be spent in the beautiful city of Venice mid-program, and the course will finish up with three days exploring the historic and vibrant city of Rome. This program is open to any student who, by May 2012, will have completed at least one semester of Italian or has equivalent knowledge of the language (high school language courses may count towards this requirement). Applications are due to the Office of International Programs by February 17, 2012. For a glimpse of what you will experience, have a look at the Italy photo gallery on the Office of International Programs website.
