A paper authored by several faculty members and a staff member, describing a three-year , intergenerational Ithaca College service learning project with elders, has received an honorable mention award from the Association for Gerontology in Higher Education (AGHE) and will be recognized at the AGHE’s 38th annual meeting in Arlington, Virginia, Feb. 23-26.  

 

AGHE, in conjunction with the Haworth Press (now Taylor & Francis), has instituted the David A. Peterson Award for the best article in the volume of Gerontology & Geriatrics Education, the official journal of AGHE, and to recognize excellence in scholarship in academic gerontology. For each volume, one winner and one honorable mention are named. The 2012 Honorable Mention goes to:

Krout, J.A., Bergman, E., Bianconi, P., Caldwell, K., Dorsey, J., Durnford, S., Erickson, M., Lapp, J., Monroe, J.E., Pogorzala, C., Taves, JV. (2010) “Intergenerational Service Learning with Elders: Multidisciplinary Activities and Outcomes.” Gerontology & Geriatrics Education, 31(1), 55-74.

Congratulations to the authors named above from the departments of gerontology, psychology, occupational therapy, health promotion and physical education, speech language pathology and audiology, and recreation and leisure studies!
