IC Students Produce Maple Syrup for Sale...Buy Local - Buy IC!Contributed by Carol Hansen on 02/20/12 For those of you who can’t wait for syrup season, don’t fret! Despite the mild winter, students in the South Hill Forest Products (SHFP) class have good news for you syrup lovers. A special, high-quality batch of the finest syrup that money can buy is now available for purchase. Led by Professor Jason Hamilton and his teaching/lab assistant Todd Aldrich, the South Hill Non-Timber Forest Products class has just produced their first batch of syrup of the season. However there are only 22 bottles of this liquid gold available for purchase! This early-season select batch of all-natural maple syrup is Grade A Vermont Fancy, the highest quality grade available, and is sure to go fast. Bottles sell for $18 apiece, which rolls back in to future SHFP enterprises, and can be purchased in room 282 of the Center for Natural Sciences this Wednesday (2/22) from 10 AM to 1 PM or Thursday/Friday (2/23 and 2/24) from 10 AM to 4 PM. For more information on what we do, go to https://www.ithaca.edu/naturallands/forestproducts/ and stay tuned for future South Hill Forest Products (mushrooms, honey, herbal remedies, etc!) updates. |
