The student made documentary Boomtown will be airing on ICTV’s (channel 16) “The Director’s Chair” this Wednesday at 8:00pm. The documentary surrounds the controversy of hydraulic fracturing (or “fracking”) and how it affects two rural neighboring towns in Pennsylvania, Montrose and Dimock. On one hand, fracking has created jobs and economic hope for the small community. On the other, residents have seen their water look so contaminated they live in fear of health risks. Boomtown was made by Park students during the fall 2011 semester. The Director’s Chair will feature both the documentary as well as the director, Nathan Bickell, and the director of photography, Brennan Banta, who will answer some questions regarding the short film. |
