IC Preview is a 3-week pre-first year summer bridge from high school to college life. In addition to a general emphasis on first year adjustment, this year’s IC Preview program will place some emphasis on majors in science, technology, engineering, math majors (STEM) and careers in healthcare, medicine, science and related fields.  Although a STEM major is not required to qualify for a peer leader position, the IC Preview staff will prioritize the hiring of at least one peer leader with this academic background.

During IC Preview, Peer Leaders are responsible for assisting participants with their academic, social, and personal orientation into the college environment. IC Preview Peer Leaders will be trained as paraprofessional staff members of Academic Enrichment Services (AES) and the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs (OSEMA).

 Qualifications

 ·        Applicants must have a 2.75 cumulative grade point average; being in good judicial standing; and must be interested in working with pre-freshman students.

·        Must have a proven record of involvement on campus and/or community activities.   During their period of employment, Peer Leaders may not hold any other jobs or be enrolled in summer school courses.

·        AES/OSEMA is seeking to hire at least one peer leader who is majoring in physical therapy, science, technology, computer science, mathematics, or related fields.

Peer leaders will be employed for a 4-week period beginning Sunday evening, June 24th, 2012 at 5:00pm through Friday, July 20th, 2012 at 3:00pm.

Compensation is competitive in a range from $1600 - $2200 for the contract period based on academic credenteials; class year; campus engagement; programming experience; and experience with AES and OSEMA.  Housing and meals are provided as part of the overall compensation package.
