Paris Study Abroad Opportunity application deadline extended! New date: Thursday, March 1, 2012Contributed by Jennifer Germann on 02/26/12 Professors Lauren O'Connell and Jennifer Germann, Department of Art History, will be offering a 12-day short-term summer course in Paris from May 24-June 6, 2012. Called "Art and Politics in Paris: Reading Paris in Space and Image," this course will focus on the ways in which royal, national and popular power can be read in the architecture and image collections of the French capital. Through site visits to museums, buildings, and urban and garden spaces in and around Paris, students will learn about the capacity of the visual arts to serve and challenge those in power. This course is intended for a general undergraduate audience and will interest students curious about the art, language, history, and culture of France. It provides 3B GH credit. There are no prerequisites for this course. |
