Sustainability Café on March 26th looks at the relationship between agriculture and hydrofrackingContributed by Marian Brown on 03/21/12 The Sustainability Café on Monday, March 26th, will feature dairyman Collin McCarthy from Spruce Haven Farm, addressing the topic of “Agriculture and Hydrofracking: decisionmaking and sustainability in rural New York.” The Café will be held in Center for Natural Sciences Room 112 at 4:00PM. Collin McCarthy, who began working on dairy farms as a junior high schooler, has been the manager at Spruce Haven Farm since 2010. He was part of the 2008-09 Cornell Pro Dairy program - Northwest New York Dairy team. McCarthy graduated Cornell University with a degree in Animal Science and Dairy Management in 1995, and since then, has managed a number of dairies ranging in size from 65 to 1,600 cows.
