Four Ithaca College School of Music students have been announced as semi-finalists to compete in one of the most prestigious international competitions for their instruments this summer at the International Tuba and Euphonium Conference.  The conference will be held in Linz, Austria, June 23-30th, 2012.

Peter Best-Hall (freshman) will compete in the Young Artist Solo Euphonium division, Michael Horsford (graduate student) will compete in the Artist Solo Tuba division, and Eric Hoang (graduate student) and Bill Connors (junior) will compete in the Arnold Jacobs Mock Orchestral competition.

There were hundreds of entries from all over the world for each category in the competition.  Dr. Aaron Tindall, School of Music assistant professor of tuba/euphonium, said "for these Ithaca College students to make it into a competition of this level and stature is a testament to the amount of time, energy, and dedication that these students have put into their chosen field of study.  It goes to show that the tuba/euph studio here at IC is working extremely hard, and is earning a reputation as a hotspot in the world for some of the finest low-brass education."

Another of Tindall's former students, now completing a M.M. degree in the UK, is also in the Artist Solo Euphonium division.  This brings the total number of current/former students selected for this competition to five for him, and is more than any other teacher in the world has that have been selected.

Best of luck to these exceptional Ithaca College students and musicians!
