Toastmasters Successful at Local Competition - Moving Forward!Contributed by Doreen Hettich-Atkins on 03/23/12 Congratulations to Jane Ray and Heather Schuck who recently swept the Area 10 Toastmasters Competition in the "International Speech" category. Jane Ray, Human Resources, and Heather Schuck, Campus Center and Event Services, competed as representatives of the Ithaca College Chapter of Toastmasters International recently in the Area 10 speech contest. They swept the contest, with Jane winning the first prize trophy and Heather winning the second prize trophy. As a result of their win, they will move forward to represent Area 10 at the Southern Division contest to be held in Endicott, NY on April 21st. Both Jane and Heather competed in the International Speech contest. They were required to write and deliver an original 5-7 minute speech on the topic of their choice. The International Speech contest culminates, after contestants move through Area, Division, and District competition, in a competition at the Toastmasters International Annual meeting to decide who will be crowed the World Champion of Public Speaking. More than 25,000 contestants world-wide participate in this contest at some level annually. Special recognize goes to Pam Ameigh, Library, as well as she will be coordinate the Southern Division contest in Endicott in her role as Southern Division Governor. Congratulations to both Jane and Heather and we know the campus wishes them well as they continue to compete and represent Ithaca College!
