Ithaca College Wins National Student Programming AwardContributed by Michele Lenhart on 03/28/12
SAB won this recognition for their program "First Year Comedy Night", which was an event that epitomized the creativity, character, and intellect of IC students. During Fall Welcome in August 2011, SAB hosted a comedy night to help welcome new students to campus. Due to tropical storm Irene, the headline performer was unable to make it to Ithaca, which SAB found out just a few hours before the event was scheduled to begin. Rather than cancel the show, the students in SAB did some last-minute creative problem solving and pulled together students from a variety of organizations at IC to present a showcase of student talent. The event received an incredibly positive response from the first year students, and it is likely to become a regular part of Fall Welcome.
Comedy Chair, Christoper Miree, ’14 accepted the award at the national conference in Jacksonville Florida on March 18. Congratulations to Student Activities Board and the staff in the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs for your work to make this program a success! |
