Ithaca College

Caribbean Students Association invites the members of Ithaca College and the greater Ithaca Community to attend a session lead by Trinidadian author Merle Hodge on April 4th starting at 7pm in Textor 102. The title of the session is "Caribbean Literature and the Journey to Peoplehood".

This session is a part Caribbean Culture Week 2012 themed "Shades of Faces: Enlightenment Through Caribbean Literature", hosted by Caribbean Students Association. Merle Hodge, renown author and senior lecturer at The University of the West Indies St. Augustine, will be speaking of her experiences as a female Caribbean author and activist over the years. She has coordinated seminars dealing with "The Rearing of the Caribbean Child", "The Media and National Development" and many other conferences. She has written extensively as a freelance journalist and has published tow novels titled "The Life of Laetitia" and "Crick Crack Monkey", and several short stories for children, essays, articles on Caribbean family, Caribbean language, women's issues, and education. This session serves to bring awareness of Caribbean culture through literature to the Ithaca community.
