"Working" and American Labor

Contributed by Susan Monagan on 04/03/12

The national unemployment rate as of December was 8.5 percent. To put it in perspective, 8.5% of the number of enrolled students at IC last semester would be 575 people. That's not a small number here at IC, and 8.5% percent means a lot of unemployed Americans.

This Saturday, April 7, the dramaturgy program of the Department of Theatre Arts, in conjunction with performances of the musical "Working", will present a free talkback presentation entitled "American Labor."

Following the 2 pm matinee, Laura St. John and Taylor Long, members of Ithaca College's Labor Initiative in Promoting Solidarity, will speak about the conflicts of workers portrayed in the show and other labor issues the United States currently faces. The talkback will occur in the Clark Theatre in Dillingham Center.

If you have any questions or require special accomodations, please contact the dramaturgs, Lucy Waker and Amanda Sirois, at workingquestions@gmail.com.

For tickets to "Working" please call 607-274-3224 or 607-273-4497, go to Ithaca Events or visit the Dillingham ticket office.
