The Labor Initiative in Promoting Solidarity would like to invite you to our Part-Time Professor Panel event, which will take place on Tuesday, April 17th at 7 p.m. in Textor 103. Pizza will be served.
As of now, approximately 30 percent of Ithaca College’s faculty members are part-time employees. The experiences of part-time faculty vary by department and discipline, but the majority of them face similar difficulties, including job insecurity, paltry health care coverage, minimal compensation, a lack of respect, and other issues, all while doing just as much as work full-time faculty. Through research and interviews, LIPS members have compiled data and information about these experiences. We have also invited four professors to come and speak candidly about their experiences. We hope this event will serve as a catalyst for more discussion and action by giving part-time faculty an opportunity to voice their concerns and open the floor to the audience to ask questions and engage in conversation.
