Are you interested in interacting with first-year students outside of the classroom?  Please consider serving as a Faculty Fellow for the First-Year Residential Experience (FYRE) for 2012-2013!

FYRE currently houses 600 first-year students in Boothroyd, Rowland, and Tallcott Halls in the upper Quads, and in the East Tower.  The program will grow to almost 900 students with the addition of the West Tower in fall 2012.  The program is designed to provide first-year students with a strong residential experience that fosters community, promotes interactions with faculty and staff, and provides engaging activities and programs that assist students in their transition to college.  The Faculty Fellow is an opportunity to interact with students in their living environment and to promote learning and academic success.

The responsibilities of a Faculty Fellow include:

• Participate in an August orientation meeting with FYRE staff.
• Participate in the Move-In Crew during Residence Hall opening on Sunday, August 26, 2012 to meet new students and parents. 
• Facilitate a group discussion about the First-Year Reading Initiative book Ten Thousand Saints by Dr Eleanor Henderson on August 28, 2012, following the FYRI kickoff event. 
• Participate in six (6) additional points of contact with students, including but not limited to FYRI discussions, presenting a program in the residence halls, attending a meal with students, and attending social programs/campus events with students.
• Participate in FYRE faculty meetings, which will occur twice per semester.
