At the most recent annual meeting of the Music Theory Society of New York State, held on March 31 and April 1 at Hunter College, Associate Professor of Music Theory Timothy Johnson was reelected to the position of vice president.  Assistant Professor of Music Theory Peter Silberman, who stepped down as the society’s treasurer, was elected to the board, replacing outgoing board member Assistant Professor of Music Theory Deborah Rifkin.

Founded in 1971, the Music Theory Society of New York State is our nation’s oldest professional society devoted to the promotion of the study of music theory.   The society holds an annual meeting and publishes a scholarly journal, Theory and Practice.
