The Department of Education is pleased to sponsor a talk by Eric Hamako, a 2011-2012 Pre-Doctoral Diversity Fellow in the School of Humanities and Sciences . He will present Improving Anti-Racist Education for Multiracial Participants in the Center for Natural Sciences (CNS) 115 Wednesday, April 18, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. The presentation is free and open to all.

Often, popular anti-racist educational curricula and facilitators marginalize, pathologize, or are simply underprepared for the identities, experiences, and perspectives of Multiracial participants. Mr. Hamako will share features of anti-racist education that work (and do not work) for Multiracial participants and will offer constructive suggestions for improving anti-racist training and for evaluating curricula. The session should benefit staff or students who lead diversity trainings, faculty who use participatory activities to teach about racism, and student affairs professionals.
