VIC Radio Marathon to Benefit Ithaca Health AllianceContributed by Christopher Wheatley on 04/09/12 VIC Radio's 26th Annual 50 Hour Marathon takes place from 4:00 p.m. Friday, April 20 through 6:00 p.m. Sunday, April 22. The station will be raising money for the Ithaca Health Alliance, which operates the Ithaca Free Clinic. During the Marathon, two DJs will stay awake and on the air or 50 straight hours. Zach Wilkens '13 and Collin Schuck '13 are the two star DJs this year, who will guide listeners through the weekend and draw attention to the Ithaca Health Alliance. They will be joined by Gillian Smith '12 and Emily Junge '14, the Street Team, for back up and support. Weekend events include a concert Saturday, April 21st at the Haunt, plus remote broadcasts and a scavenger hunt. Local businesses, student groups and individuals sponsor hours of the Marathon and will be acknowledged on the air. All proceeds go directly to the Ithaca Health Alliance, a 501 (c) (3) organization. The Marathon will be simulcast on WICB (91.7 and www.wicb.org) with portions carried on ICTV, Time Warner Channel 16. Since the first 50 Hour Marathon in 1986, VIC Radio has raised over $58,000 for local non-profit organizations. |
