Film by Violet Senderai '14 chosen for International Black Women's Film FestivalContributed by Melissa Gattine on 04/16/12 Violet Senderai, a sophomore cinema and photography major, had her film, “Kuvuka Daraja” selected for the International Black Women’s Film Festival. The International Black Women’s Film Festival was established in 2001 by Adrienne Anderson, and screened its first festival in 2002. To date, the festival has received over 400 entries and has garnered international attention around the world from the Netherlands, Germany, France, Greenland, Zimbabwe, Ghana, Canada, Burkina Faso, Puerto Rico, Bazil, the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States. The festival brings original, exciting, and innovative cinema featuring Black women in prominent roles and lets them present their own stories.
