Sandra Bruce, Resurrection Health Care Corp. President and CEO, to speak Monday night at the School of Business.

The School of Business is proud to announce that Sandra Bruce will be speaking on Monday, April 23, at 7 p.m. in BUS 111.  Sandra's lecture, "In Sickness and in Health – A tale of Healthcare Transformation”, is co-sponsored by the History Department.

"We're delighted to partner with the History Department to welcome to Ithaca College as talented and successful a healthcare executive as Sandra Bruce. Her insights and knowledge in this critically important area will be beneficial to students, faculty, staff and community members from a variety of disciplines." said Dean Mary Ellen Zuckerman.

Sandra Bruce is president and CEO of Resurrection Health Care Corp., a not-for-profit system based in Chicago. Bruce has served in the position since 2008, and is responsible for overseeing the largest Catholic healthcare system in Illinois, with 12,000 employees. Since taking over, she has instituted a financial turnaround and the system went from a nearly $100 million operating loss in fiscal 2008 to a positive bottom line of more than $1.8 million in fiscal 2010.

Vivian Bruce Conger, History Department Chair, says "The History Department is very excited to be partnering with the School of Business in bringing Ms. Bruce to campus.  As a liberal arts undergraduate who subsequently earned an MBA and has enjoyed a highly successful career in business, Ms. Bruce epitomizes the potential of a liberal arts grounding in meeting the challenges of today and tomorrow."

Sandra brings years of executive experience to Ithaca College and was recently named one of the nation’s Top 25 Women in Healthcare by Modern Healthcare magazine, which recognizes those female healthcare executives who are making a positive difference in the industry.

Her visit will also include a lunch with members from the Women in Business Network, a student organization which emphasize the importance of women in business and leadership.

The School of Business brings senior executives to campus to share real-world experiences and relevant and timely business topics with our students. Our speakers’ visits to campus usually involve an informal meeting with the business school’s student leaders, participation in select business classes, and a formal presentation to an audience of campus and community members.

Gabby Root, Women in Business Network executive board member, says, “I think it is great that we get to have the opportunity to meet Sandra Bruce. This will be an opportunity to learn, network and gain great insight into the professional world that is fastly approaching!”
