Bhavani Arabandi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology receives an American Sociological SAGE Teaching Innovations & Professional Development AwardContributed by James Rothenberg on 04/24/12 Bhavani Arabandi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology, has been chosen by the American Sociological Association (ASA) Section on Teaching and Learning to receive a SAGE Teaching Innovations & Professional Development Award. The purpose of these awards is to prepare a new generation of scholars and leaders in the Teaching Movement in Sociology by providing supplemental funds to support participation in the Section on Teaching and Learning’s pre-conference workshop, “The Art at the Heart of Learner-Centered Teaching.” Through engagement with experienced colleagues and with each other, keynotes, panels, discussions, roundtables, and networking are designed to provide an integrated learning experience grounded in the scholarship of teaching and learning.
