Ithaca College

Ithaca College is excited to announce the launch of the mobile version of Ithaca.edu for smartphones, designed to give on-the-go users quick access to information in a format optimized for their mobile devices.

The mobile homepage was built to prominently display specific content of interest to a mobile user, not the same content on the desktop version of the IC homepage. This decision was based on a thorough look at a year’s worth of traffic analytics of those visiting Ithaca.edu on smartphones. Information is grouped within eight categories, each with their own unique icon: Admission, Visit, Hours, Calendar, Academics, Athletics, Map, and News. A fast, mobile-optimized search bar also aids navigation. This site will automatically come up if you're using a smartphone and access Ithaca.edu.

Upper-level content is presented via the specially designed mobile interface, but the rest of the Ithaca College website has been optimized for browsing on a mobile device, as well. Content from a page on the full site will scale into a clean template. Main content, as well as photos and any sidebar information will be readily accessible to mobile users; site menus are accessible through a button that expands to fill the screen; content collections, photo galleries, blogs, and other content types will also display in a mobile-friendly format.

Users can choose to bring up the full-version of the site on their smartphone at any time by clicking the “View Full Site” button at the bottom of every page, while tablet users or curious desktop users can also access the mobile version of the site by clicking the "Mobile Site" link in the footer of every page. General feedback and feature requests are welcome and can be submitted via a "Give Feedback" button at the bottom of every mobile page.

Development of the Ithaca College mobile site was a joint effort between Information Technology Services and the Office of Marketing Communications. Users who experience problems with the mobile site are encouraged to call the ITS Helpdesk at 607-274-1000 or to e-mail helpdesk@ithaca.edu.
