Teaching Beyond Borders Presentation and Discussion May 9, 4:30-6pmContributed by Beth Harris on 05/02/12 Professors Peyi Soyinka-Airewele and Beth Harris, co-founders of the Classrooms Beyond Borders initiative, invite Ithaca College faculty and staff to a round-table discussion about Teaching Beyond Borders Wednesday, May 9, 4:30-6pm Business 202 Peyi and Beth believe that this initiative, which draws on cutting-edge digital technology and critical pedagogies, can serve as a model for innovative, interdisciplinary global collaborative classrooms. “Beyond borders” teaching strategies are uniquely responsive to the complexities of social and political dynamics and the diversity of cultures. Peyi will share her experiences with collaborative teaching with Dr. Sheriff Folarin at Covenant University in Nigeria, and Beth will discuss her shared classroom experience co-teaching curriculum with Dr. Nabil Alawi at An Najah University in the West Bank. We invite IC faculty to share their own experiences with creating global and collaborative classrooms and ideas about future projects.
