Several faculty members and students from the Occupational Therapy Department presented their work at the 92nd Annual Conference & Expo of the American Occupational Therapy Association, in Indianapolis on April 26-29, 2012.
Carole W. Dennis, ScD, OT/L and Amie Engel Germain, MOTR/L (both from Ithaca College) and Julie Ann Nastasi, OTD, OTR/L, SCLV (from the University of Scranton) presented a poster titled “Sustainable Living and Occupational Justice”.
Carole Dennis, with Jessica Hauberg and Monica Puglisi, current graduate students, conducted a technology presentation entitled “Tots on Bots: Comparison of Two Controls for a Robotic Infant Mobility Device” and a poster: “Getting Going: Providing Powered Mobility to Infants with Disabilities”. Additional Ithaca College authors who could not be present at the conference included current graduate students Cheri F. Berger, Kaitlyn Burger, Taylor M. Carlotti, Jill E. Cater-Cyker, Lauren M. Cresser, Molly N. Osterhoudt, and Rachel M. Smith, and faculty members Sharon A. Stansfield, PhD, (Computer Science) and Hélène M. Larin, PhD, PT (Physical Therapy).
Julie Dorsey, OTD, OTR/L, CEAS presented a course with Linda Miller, MeDes, OT, CCPE, CPE (EWI Works International Inc, Edmonton, AB, Canada) and Karen Jacobs, EdD, OTR/L, CPE, FAOTA (Boston University) entitled “Designing a Healthy Future: Occupational Therapy, Sustainability, and Ergonomics”. Julie also conducted a Work and Industry Special Interest Section Roundtable entitled “Infusing Ergonomics into the Green School Movement”.|
Lynn Gitlow, Ph.D, OTR/L, ATP (Ithaca College) presented a course with Douglas Rakoski, MA, OTR/L, ATP and Amanda Carr, OTR/L, ATP (both from the University of Michigan Health System, Ann Arbor, MI) entitled “Uses of Technology To Empower Clients and Promote Independence by Increasing Participation in the Overall Rehabilitation Program”.
Laura Kucsan, MS, OTR, graduate class of 2011, presented a poster of her thesis findings, entitled “Family-Centered Care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Locus of Control in Maternal Caregivers”.
