I am very pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. David Garcia to the position of Associate Provost for Business Intelligence (BI) effective June 1st.

Beginning in the fall of 2009, the College began an assessment of our business reporting structures and capabilities.  Ultimately, a series of recommendations were made that included creating a position to oversee our business intelligence operation especially in terms of fostering on campus a climate of data driven thinking.  The decision was made to create this BI leadership position within the Office of the Provost.

As the Associate Provost for Business Intelligence, Dr. Garcia will work collaboratively across campus to ensure that we are maximizing our analytical capabilities to inform institutional decision making.  He will be working collaboratively with ITS and other units to assist in ongoing work to make certain that our data is organized appropriately to support our business intelligence needs.

Dr. Garcia brings significant experience to this position, having served in a number of different administrative capacities, including his current appointment as Executive Associate Dean in the School of Humanities and Sciences.  He was also an American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow during the 2008-2009 academic year, serving in-residence in the provost’s office at SUNY-Oswego.
