Professor of trumpet in the School of Music, Frank Gabriel Campos was a headlining artist at the International Trumpet Guild Conference in Columbus, Georgia in May. Campos played an unprecedented solo program that included a wide variety of unaccompanied jazz and classical works such as Leonard Bernstein's 'Simple Song', Miles Davis' 'Donna Lee, and Rimsky-Korsakov's 'Flight of the Bumblebee'.

Campos was also interviewed in The Brass Herald, the UK's largest brass magazine with an international circulation of thousands. Campos was featured in the 'Virtuosi' section along with the principal trumpet of the London Symphony. In the interview, Campos talks of his early days practicing with the echoes in the storm drains at the beach in Monterey, California, and about his renowned ability to play virtually any style of music.

One of Campos' live solo recordings, 'The Water is Wide and Variations', was recently featured on American Public Media's Performance Today. This was Campos' fourth
appearance on the popular program, which reaches over one and a half million listeners. Program host Fred Child's generous comments included "American trumpeter Frank Gabriel
Campos, essentially singing through his trumpet...really nice playing. He is professor of trumpet at Ithaca College and one of the great trumpet players and teachers in the
country."
