Memphis and Pulsar Personal Folders to be Moved on 7/13Contributed by Karen Compton on 07/10/12 ITS is about to implement another major phase of the Networking and Security re-Architecture (NSrA) project, which is to move files from the Novell file servers (Memphis and Pulsar) to the Active Directory (AD) file server called Mentor. Starting on Friday, July 13th at 3:00 PM, all personal Novell folders will be moved from Memphis and Pulsar to the new Mentor server. Users will not have access to their personal folder for approximately 24 hours. Shared departmental folders will be moved in batches over the next several weeks (also to the Mentor server). This change affects both Mac and Windows users (for the latter, the personal folder is commonly known as "G" drive). On the new Mentor server, personal folders are called "Home" directories and are therefore designated as the "H:" drive on Windows computers or the Home folder on Macs. All personal folders will have a default quota of 1GB. After the folder moves are complete, Windows users can access their personal files through My Computer > Network Drives > username on 'mentorhome' (H:). Mac users can access their personal files from the home folder on the desktop (if it's not visible, go to Finder > Preferences and make sure Connected servers is checked). In many respects, accessing files on Mentor will be very similar to how they are accessed on Novell. However, both Mac and Windows users will need to create new aliases and shortcuts, and users who access server files from off campus will need to use a new remote access procedure. Complete details about these changes can be found in the following guides: ITS Helpdesk Memphis and Pulsar Personal Folders to be Moved on 7/13 Comment from

Can you kindly post a list of FREE virus software which meets the qualifications for remote access to our folders? I made sure mine was completely up-to-date and it was still rejected.
