Bodhi Rogers and three students travel to Cyprus to study Late Bronze Age cities.Contributed by Jill Ackerman on 07/05/12 Using high-tech equipment such as ground-penetrating radar and magnetometers the team is non-invasively 'looking' at what is buried beneath the ground at two 3,000 year old cities.
The Kalavasos and Maroni Built Environments Project is a NSF funded study of how persons of elite status expressed their power through architecture and urban planning. This is the fourth and final expedition under the current funding. The total area covered to date is 25 acres while taking a reading every 5 cm in one direction and 25-50 cm in the other direction. This year's surveys have uncovered evidence for additional buildings that are part of the Late Bronze Age coastal community at the site of Maroni-Tsaroukkas.
