The Ithaca Police Department and Cornell University Police Department are investigating three reported instances of sexual assault that occurred on and around the Cornell campus in the early morning hours of Sunday, Sept. 2. While none of the victims are members of the Ithaca College community, the Ithaca College Office of Public Safety wants to take this opportunity to remind students of the continued need to practice personal safety. If at all possible, avoid walking alone at night and stay away from dark, vacant, or deserted areas. Student Auxiliary Safety Patrol (SASP) members, security officers, and patrol officers are available to accompany any member of the campus community to and from any location on the IC campus. You can obtain an escort by calling the Office of Public Safety at 274-3333 or by activating any blue-light or indoor emergency telephone, which link callers directly with Public Safety. These phones are strategically located throughout campus and can be used in any emergency situation. When off campus, use well-traveled, well-lighted routes and be aware of what is going on around you. If you sense a potential threat, move to a safer place and call 911 immediately.
