Operation Wallacea is a non-profit organization that works through academic collaborations to run volunteer based conservation management and biodiversity monitoring research in remote areas across the world.

It offers:
  • Conservation research through academic partnerships
  • Biodiversity and cultural research expeditions over the summer
  • Academic credit is available.

They are a network of academics from European and North American universities who design and implement biodiversity and conservation management research programs in remote locations across the globe. Research is supported by undergraduate and graduate students who join the program to strengthen their resume, gain course credit, or collect data for a thesis. Academics benefit from funding for high quality fieldwork enabling them to publish papers in peer reviewed journals. This model enables the collection of large temporal and spatial datasets used for assessing the effectiveness of conservation management interventions.
