Get ready to clap and sing along with the Ithaca College Jazz Ensemble! This free one-hour concert will be an enjoyable way for all kids to learn about this great American music. The performance will be at 10AM on October 6th, 2012 at Ford Hall in the Whalen Center for Music at Ithaca College. Jazz ensemble director Mike Titlebaum explains "For aspiring jazz musicians, it is important that we can teach children about the fundamental aspects of jazz that make it unique from any other music: primarily it's swinging rhythms and deep blues feeling. And, we aspire to teach about it in a way that's fun and engaging to kids because we want to build an audience for the music we love so much. And, because so many students in the music school are majoring in music education, they are extremely passionate about bringing music to young people." |
