Marketing Communications Team Receives National Recognition for Design and VideoContributed by Rachel Reuben on 10/01/12 Two of the country's leading communications organizations recently lauded three projects produced by the Office of Marketing Communications. The editors of Graphic Design USA—the standard news magazine for graphic designers—granted IC’s marketing team two Awards of Excellence in the 2012 American Graphic Design Awards competition. One winning entry was the recent redesign of the Ithaca College Fuse magazine; the other was a series of Ready campaign advertisements that appeared as inserts in the New York Times. More than 8,000 entries were judged in 24 categories; fewer than 15 percent received awards. The annual competition is open to a wide range of organizations, including advertising agencies, corporations, colleges and universities, and graphic design firms. Also, our four-and-a-half minute video promoting the Ready campaign was one of 150 Award of Excellence winners in the 42nd annual design competition sponsored by the University & College Designers Association (UCDA). The judges evaluated more than 1,100 entries nationwide. UCDA is the country’s first and only professional association dedicated to visual communications for educational institutions. The winning video can be viewed on YouTube. I am enormously proud of the entire team who contributed towards these award-winning projects and that they were recognized on a national scale. Their work continues to raise the bar for marketing in higher education and is an excellent representation for Ithaca College.
