Eight resident artists from Longview, an Ithacare Community, will show their work through October at the Community Arts Partnership (CAP) Artspace in Center Ithaca on the Ithaca Commons. Longview artists will also be attending the Gallery Night reception on Friday, October 5, 5-8 pm. (NOTE: Artists' Talk scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 16, has been CANCELLED.) Titled "In Our Own Time: Art in the Senior Years," the show features watercolors, photographs, sculptures, and oil paintings created by residents of Longview's senior residential community. Many of the artists have found that without the worries and cares of keeping up a house and property, they have more time and energy to devote to their passions, including art. Several of the artists in this show were art teachers or commercial artists. Other residents discovered talents during classes and workshops offered at Longview. The CAP Artspace is a program of the Community Arts Partnership of Tompkins County www.artspartner.org .
