2012 Izzy Awards to be Aired This Weekend on Free Speech TVContributed by Maura Stephens on 10/04/12 The 2012 Izzy Awards will air nationally in an edited one-hour program on Free Speech TV this Saturday, October 6, at 3:00 and 10:00 p.m. ET and Sunday, October 7, at 2:00 p.m. ET. Ithaca College associate professor of television and radio Peter Johanns produced the program for FSTV. It features powerful speeches by co-winners Sharif Abdel Kouddous (who was honored for his reporting from the uprising in Egypt's Tahrir Square for Democracy Now!) and the Center for Media and Democracy (represented by executive director Lisa Graves, who has been all over the news in the last year after exposing the American Legislative Exchange Council's corporate-state partnership). The Izzy Awards were held on campus in April. Free Speech TV reaches 30 million U.S. homes on DISH Network, DirecTV Channel and more than 200 cable stations, and you can watch online at www.freespeech.org. |
