Call for Actors for DREAM ACTS A staged reading of a play Directed by Theatre Arts Professor Saviana Condeescu An event with Theatre Arts Guest Artist: Playwright Chiori Miyagawa Dream Acts is a FICTIONAL play about issues of immigration, and DREAM-eligible youth. DREAM ACT Union, created by Chiori Miyagawa, is an unincorporated group of women theater artists working together to raise awareness of the challenges that undocumented youths face, and the DREAM Act Bill, through creation of theatrical events. AUDITIONS: Wednesday, Oct 10, 4-7 pm Dillingham Center Studio 5 Scenes will be provided at audition - there is no need to prepare anything ahead of time.
Breakdown of Roles: AREWA, 18, female, African-American. KSENIA, 18, female, blonde, Caucasian. DANNY, 18, male, Latino. WAHID, early 20s, male, Middle-Eastern/Arab. JIWON, 20, female, Asian-American.
The actors must be available for a 4-hour rehearsal on Sunday, Oct 28, 2-6 pm, and a performance on Monday, Oct 29, 4-6 pm. All events take place at Dillingham Center.
Details about the event: DREAM ACTS - Clark Theatre, Dillingham Arts Performing Arts Center - Monday, Oct 29, at 4 pm. Staged-reading of Dream Acts, written collectively by Chiori Miyagawa, Mia Chung, Jessica Litwak, Saviana Stanescu and Andrea Thome, directed by Saviana Condeescu, assistant professor of Playwriting & Theatre Studies, Ithaca College. The reading will be followed by a talk-back with guest artist Chiori Miyagawa, Godfrey Simmons - Artistic Director of The Civic Ensemble, and other panelists TBD.
