On October 13, there will be a talk-back following the 2 pm matinee performance of “Man from Nebraska,” currently playing at Ithaca College Theatre. Admission to the talk-back is free. This post-show conversation features Lecturer Simon Rolston from the Department of English, Acting Director of the Handwerker Gallery, Mara Baldwin, and the play’s dramaturg, Kristen Joyce ’13.

With “Man From Nebraska” playwright Tracy Letts brings us the story of Ken Carpenter, a middle-aged man from the middle of America who discovers he's lost his faith. Finalist for the Pulitzer Prize, "Man from Nebraska" follows Ken on a journey away from home where he examines his faith and how people choose what they believe.

The talk-back is an opportunity for the audience to ask questions and gain insight into the play’s themes. Many of Letts’ plays, including "August: Osage County," concern American culture and identity. Other topics that may be explored by the panel during the “Man from Nebraska,” talk-back are the gender roles represented in the play and Letts’ incorporation of silence which, according to the playwright "should be allowed to speak as loudly as the text."

Performances of “Man From Nebraska” run every night at 8pm through October 13th as well as at 2pm on October 13th.
