Learn to create community power projects Tonight at 7pmContributed by Marian Brown on 10/30/12 On Tuesday, October 30th at 7:00PM, as part of the Sustainability Speaker Series, author Greg Pahl will speak on the subject of his latest book, “Power From the People”, in Textor 101. Greg Pahl, author of “Power from the People: How to Organize, Finance, and Launch Local Energy Projects”, will describe the big picture view of local energy sustainability from a 21st-century perspective. A founding member of the Vermont Biofuels Association, The ACORN Network, and the Acorn Renewable Energy Co-op, Pahl will offer suggestions and examples of what individuals, farmers, institutions, non-profits, and communities can do to make themselves more energy resilient and otherwise curb their carbon footprint. The strategies and case studies Pahl offers are based on current, available technology (rather than wishful thinking) with a strong emphasis on collaborative community initiatives based on local ownership. This event, which is sponsored by the Sustainability Initiative at Ithaca College, is free and open to the public. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Marian Brown at mbrown@ithaca.edu or (607) 274-3787. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible. |
