Janet Galvan, School of Music, Clinician at Fresno State Invitational Choral FestivalContributed by Molly O'Shea Polk on 10/24/12 Dr. Janet Galvan worked with over 2200 singers from over 60 schools as the clinician for the Fresno State Invitational Choral Festival on October 18-19. She adjudicated each choir and worked with them in a clinic after their performance. An article appeared in the The Collegian at California State University, Fresno on Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Excerpts: “The main clinician is Dr. Janet Galvan from Ithaca, New York. She is in demand all over the country as a guest conductor and clinician. Assisting her is Dr. Jeff Gemmell from The University of Colorado in Boulder,” Hamre said. Choirs at the festival have the opportunity to be graded on their performances and the top five grades will be invited back the following year. The festival is also put together by the help from Fresno State music students. This festival gives music students a chance to get behind the scenes, as well as perform and direct during the event. |
