Submitted on behalf of Terri Stewart, Director for Public Safety & Emergency Management The Office of Public Safety and Emergency Management publishes an “Emergency Readiness and Response Guide” that contains information about various emergency situations and conditions as well as response guidelines for campus community members to follow in the event of an emergency. Students, faculty, and staff are urged to familiarize themselves with these guidelines in advance of a campus crisis which could include violent crimes, weather disasters, and hazardous materials incidents. The guide contains strategies for enhancing personal safety in emergency situations, including instructions for evacuation and shelter-in-place. The Emergency Readiness and Response Guide can be read and a hard copy downloaded at https://www.ithaca.edu/emergency/docs/emergencyresponse.pdf. We would also like to remind campus community members to sign up for the College’s Emergency Notification System (ENS), which uses voice, e-mail, and text messaging to reach students, faculty and staff with time-sensitive information during unforeseen events or emergencies. It is important to have more than one way to receive alerts in order to ensure access to these notices. The information you provide will only be used for the Emergency Notification System and will be kept private and confidential. To sign up or to update your existing contact information, go to https://www.ithaca.edu/emergencynotification and log into the system using your Ithaca College Netpass username and password. |
