Courtney Brown, Class of 2014, Applies For and Wins Elect Her–Campus Women Win Training for Ithaca CollegeContributed by Sarah Schupp on 11/08/12 Ithaca College is one of 12 schools chosen nationwide to host a workshop sponsored by the American Association of University Women (AAUW) and Running Start. Courtney Brown, SGA Vice President of Communications, applied for the Elect Her – Campus Women Win training and will serve as student liaison for the program. Elect Her– Campus Women Win, a collaboration between AAUW and Running Start, encourages and trains college women to run for student government on their campuses. Elect Her acknowledges the necessity to build the pipeline of women running for office in order to diminish the long-standing political leadership gender gap. Elect Her is a half-day training that teaches college women how to run for, create campaigns, and win student government positions. It is a unique workshop as Elect Her is the only program in the country that encourages and trains young women to run for student government positions at their colleges. The workshop will occur on March 2, 2013 and will be jointly sponsored by the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs and the Student Government Association. More details about nominations and applications will be available in the near future. A total of 39 campuses will host Elect Her this year and the following institutions are the new 2013 campus sites:
