Soprano, Deborah Montgomery, Professor of Voice performed for over 8500 school children in a tour with the West Virginia Symphony Orchestra last week in Grant Cooper’s (former Director of Orchestras at Ithaca College) Boyz in the Wood.  The Arts in Education program allowed children in Charleston, Parkersburg and Morgantown to experience this special interactive musical event.

Together with her singing partner Steve Stull (alias the Wolf) the tour marked over 75 performances of the children’s opera throughout the United States.  The story is based on the children’s tale of “Little Red Riding Hood” with a slight twist of fortune for Little Red as the wolf lets her go free.  The music is so appealing to children with elements of Rap, Dixieland and composer influences from Bernstein to Strauss.   Pictured is a collage the children in Charleston made of the Wolf and Little Red with bottle caps as well as Montgomery, Stull and Cooper.
