The Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen series at Ithaca College will host a free public showing of the documentary “The Chorus” on Wednesday, Dec 5, at 7 p.m. in Textor 101.

The film chronicles the members, both alive and gone, of the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, the world’s first and largest openly gay-identified choral organization. By the mid 1990’s, the Chorus had lost more than half of its members to AIDS. This touching documentary illuminates the roles loss and grief, healing and hope have played as part of the choral group’s growth and strength

Out of the Closet and Onto the Screen is sponsored by the Ithaca College Center for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) Education, Outreach, and Services. The theme of this year’s series is “Music: From A Cappella to Queercore.” For more information, visit www.ithaca.edu/lgbt.
