MLK Day: A Day On! Not A Day Off. Students - Plan Your Travel Back to IC Accordingly!Contributed by Sarah Schupp on 01/01/13 Monday, January 21st, 2013 is a DAY ON! Not a DAY OFF! This month the Ithaca College community will be celebrating the life of Dr. King using a new lens. The Ithaca College theme for this day will be “Making a Career of Humanity.” Check out our website at: https://www.ithaca.edu/sacl/osema/mlkcelebration/ The MLK planning committee on behalf of the Office of Student Engagement and Multicultural Affairs (OSEMA) is proud to present all students, staff, and faculty with an exciting day of inspiration. Throughout the day, the common theme will be creating a career out of humanity, and keeping that aspect of Dr. King’s legacy alive through a series of sessions, presentations, films, and alumni panel.
The itinerary for MLK Day will go a little something like this.. 8:30-10:00am: Breakfast presentation honoring the 10th anniversary of the MLK Scholar Program 10:00-11:30am: Educational sessions 11:30-1:30pm: Grab n' Go lunchtime films on campus 2:00-3:30pm: Educational Sessions 4:00-6:00pm: MLK Day Celebration, featuring a Careers of Humanity alumni panel and the First-year MLK Scholars Presentation 7:30pm: School of Music MLK Celebration Concert Ithaca College's MLK day of service will be Saturday, January 26th. Further information regarding volunteering and involvement on this day will be released soon. Please consider this an amazing opportunity and MLK day will be a DAY ON! Not a DAY-OFF! Classes will begin on Tuesday the 22nd, so give your brain a head start with MLK Day! “Make a career of humanity. Commit yourself to the noble struggle for equal rights.
