UPCOMING LECTURE SERIES…
Rooms of Their Own: Humans and the Second Skin
Fashion, like architecture, is on the front lines of a border ecology between inside and outside. The buildings we live inside and clothing we wear share being made out of a necessity for protection and identity expression as well as a persistent and creative desire to push beyond function. Both membranes are places of conflict and dialogue-- fashion, at once a surface both coded and interpreted, is dictated by history and reevaluated by the weathering of change, dotted with two-sided windows, expressive, essential, and uniquely human.
