Important information and changes for Housing Selection.

New Housing Information

  • The Upper-Years program will continue in Terraces 9 &11 for the 2013-2014 academic year. This community will only be available to current Ithaca College students and incoming Transfer students looking for an opportunity to live exclusively with other upper-class students.
  • The First-year Residential Experience (FYRE) Program is once again expanding for fall 2013. Beginning in fall 2013, Holmes and Hilliard will also be part of the FYRE program. As a result returning students will not be able to select housing in the following FYRE residence halls: Rowland, Boothroyd, Tallcott, East Tower, West Tower, Holmes and Hilliard.

Please note the following information:

You can obtain your semester standing and update your profile by logging into Homer Connect now. You can also create groups to determine when your group can select housing. Only one member of your group should log in during your selection window to choose housing for your group.

Students have the ability to search the system for available housing without actually selecting an assignment by using the “View Housing Availability for Fall 2013”. This is a similar capability to what students have during advance registration where you can view the number of seats left in a class while other groups are registering. This will allow you to make informed decisions about what options you want to continue to pursue. This is a dynamic feature and so as spaces are selected they will not show in the system.

Once you select housing, you will not be able to change your housing assignment for the Fall 2013 semester until summer wait list applications become available on April 8, 2013. Students with less than 3 completed semesters by the end of fall 2012 will not be eligible to submit a wait list application until the Fall 2013 semester since they will not be selecting housing until the summer.

If you experience any difficulties during the selection process, please use the “Report an Error” link. Be as specific as possible when identifying your problem as it will help us to fix the issue in a most timely manner. You can also use this link to provide us with feedback to help us improve the system for future processes.

Specific housing selection information is available on the Office of Residential Life website at https://www.ithaca.edu/reslife/guide/room_selection_programs/.  If you have any questions, please email us at housing@ithaca.edu.

Important changes for rising sophomores housing selection:

  • Housing selection for students with less than 3 completed semesters by the end of fall 2012 semester will occur beginning July 8, 2013 with sophomore student squatting if the current room is available. Traditional selection will begin on July 10, 2013. Students will be able to select into any available space, including apartments and single rooms.
  • During the spring semester, students with 3 semesters or less completed by the end of fall 2012 semester are able to select into Residential Learning Communities, select into a Terrace suite, or fill out a Block Housing Application. Rising sophomores may be part of an apartment application as long as they make up less than half of the total group (i.e. a group of 4 students could only have 1 rising sophomore).
  • Students wishing to change their housing assignment after they have selected a space will be able to do so when wait list applications become available on August 25, 2013.

Important changes for rising juniors & seniors housing selection:

  • All students that have completed at least 3 semesters of classes by end of the fall 2012 semester are considered to be a rising junior or above. If you meet these criteria, you are eligible to select into single rooms, Terrace suites, Residential Learning Communities or the Garden or Circle apartments during this housing selection.
  • The Office of Residential Life is no longer requiring Senior Intention Forms. If you are a rising senior (you completed 5 semesters or more by the end of Fall 2012 semester) and you wish to live on campus, you should select housing during your designated time. If you wish to live off-campus, you should not select housing at that time. Students who do not select housing will be considered off-campus. Any senior who secures fall housing will relinquish their senior exemption status and be required to live on-campus for the full academic year.
  • If you have completed less than 5 semesters by the end of fall 2012 semester and have been approved for off-campus, you are assumed to be off-campus and will not have access to select housing through Homer Connect.  If you plan to live on-campus instead, please contact our office prior to selecting housing to decline your off-campus status.
  • Rising juniors and seniors are not eligible to select into traditional doubles. If you believe you have a special circumstance that requires you live in a double, please contact Linda Koenig by email lkoenig@ithaca.edu or calling 607-274-3141.

 Block Housing Selection

This year block housing has been moved to the summer to maximize the number of spaces available to offer to groups. Block housing is an option for groups of 4-6 students looking to live in traditional style housing in groups of rooms next to each other. Groups will be prioritized by semester standing and housing priority number.  Semester standing refers to the number of semester completed by the end of the fall term. A housing priority number is a random internal number used by the Office of Residential Life to break ties where necessary.

January 21, 2013 – Block Selection applications are available in the Office of Residential Life in the East Tower.

April 15, 2013 - Students interested in Block Selection must turn in applications by 5pm.

June 24, 2013 - Block Selection awards will be emailed to application contact person.

July 5, 2013 – Block Selection assignments will be made and available on HomerConnect.
