Each year, the American Association of University Women (AAUW) Campus Action Project (CAP) grant program gives money to colleges to create community-based solutions to some of the issues examined in AAUW research. This year, AAUW awarded the CAP Grant to Ithaca College for the following project: TIA Talks: Addressing the Pay Gap Among Recent College Graduates.

TIA stands for Teach, Initiate, Advocate! TIA Talks, inspired by the popular, award-winning TED Talks, are a series of presentations by some of Ithaca College’s most knowledgeable and inspirational speakers around the issue of gender equity. This series offers ideas to change attitudes and inspire action to eliminate the gender pay gap among new college graduates. All sessions will be interactive and informal – and video-recorded for future trainings on campus and in the local community.  

All students, staff, and faculty are welcome to join us for the following presentations and events:

  • Professional Confidence: Behaviors for Success
    Presenter: Heather Lane, Lecturer in the School of Business and Founder of the Visiting Entrepreneurs Series

  • Feminist Economics: Bargaining, Discrimination, and Working in your 20's

  • Dollars and Sense: Financial Literacy for Women
    Presenter: Caryanne Keenan, Assistant Director for Career Development

  • Negotiation Skills: Advocating for Yourself and Your First Salary
    Presenter: Nancy Pringle, Vice President and General Counsel for Ithaca College
    Thursday, Feb. 28, 7:00-8:00 p.m., Taughannock Falls Room
  • Eliminating the Gender Pay Gap Networking Dinner**
    View clips from the TIA Talks and meet women working for gender equity in the workplace
    Tuesday, April 30, 5:00-6:30 p.m., Clark Lounge
    **Pre-registration required for this event – registration will open on March 18
